Project Statement

“Animal Abuse Awareness” addresses issues involving animal shelters, testing, and negligence. This project includes six posters made with Adobe Illustrator and Procreate and installed with found objects to encourage viewer interaction. Using research from organizations, such as PETA and Farm Buzz, I will educate viewers about the realities of animal mistreatment, including in everyday consumer goods.

Artist Statement

I am a graphic designer, painter, and illustrator. My projects center around my interests, such as music, family, and animals. I create art because I have a strong vision to inspire and connect with viewers.

Throughout my work, I have used both traditional and digital media to capture raw reactions from viewers. My artistic process begins with research and finding other artists that inspire me. For my Capstone, I have chosen to focus on an issue that has always been important to me: animal rights and advocacy. I am an advocate for animal rights, because it is important to speak for those who are unable to speak for themselves. Animals benefit the earth and society. Working with animals for eight years has allowed me to understand the support and care they deserve. My own dog was abandoned at a young age, rescued by the shelter and was able to start a new life with my family. Art is an important part of our lives, and I want to focus on the power art has to inspire positive change. My ultimate goal is to design works that resonate and inspire viewers.
