Artist Statement
As a visual artist, I am drawn to the often subtle and overlooked aspects of daily life, exploring the inherent tension between routine and individuality. My work delves into how the monotony of repetition shapes our experiences and perceptions, particularly in modern life, where the cycle of routine can feel both familiar and disjointed. While routine provides structure and familiarity, it can simultaneously suppress spontaneity and self-expression, trapping us in a cycle that threatens to erase our individuality. This delicate balance between security and entrapment is at the core of my work, prompting the viewer to reflect on where we find ourselves within repetition and where we begin to lose ourselves. In doing so, I seek to question how monotony affects our sense of time, purpose, and connection, inviting a deeper reflection on how we navigate routine to rediscover our individuality.
Project Statement
This animated short examines the repetitive nature of daily life, capturing the monotony that many people experience. The animation moves through everyday scenes—commuting, working, and aspects of daily life—each depicted in a repetitive loop. Through the use of monochromatic colors, recurring patterns, and rhythmic motion, this piece emphasizes how life can sometimes feel mechanical, leaving individuals disengaged or stuck in a routine. By visualizing the ceaseless cycle of daily routines, this animation/installation invites viewers to reflect on their own daily experiences and consider the broader emotional impact of a life driven by repetition.\
