Hayden Bryant is an artist from Rome, Georgia, and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts this May. He plans to continue his pursuit in making art and is considering grad school in the future. His primary concentration is in studio arts, with a focus on painting and drawing.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My primary medium is oil paint, applied with linseed oil on wood panels or canvas. Through my work, I strive to capture the poetry of a scene, focusing on the light, color, and texture within the composition. Plein air painting holds a special place in my practice, The experience of being outdoors and directly observing my surroundings informs the authenticity of my mark making and the subject matter. I find joy in the process of honing my skills in drawing and painting, Through my paintings, I express my own emotions and experiences and also my appreciation for the beauty and wonder that surrounds us.
project statement:
With this group of paintings I am researching books and artists that I find interest in and using the information to help create a coherent group of paintings. I will be using oil paint on canvas and wood panels. For some paintings I will be working in Plein Air and for others I will be creating them in the studio(my room). These paintings are created from references that are directly from nature and from my life and anything that connects to me. My intent with this project is to better understand my process and to create with more confidence.
