Project Statement
Growing up around golf—hearing my grandpa’s stories of playing in the Masters and PGA tournaments and watching my brother’s tournaments, taking side lessons from my Dad, Dewitt Weaver III, who played at Southern Methodist University —I’ve always admired watching the sport, even if I never mastered it myself. My passion, however, is fashion, and I’ve often found it challenging to discover symbolic golf apparel for women. The Four website features four main products, including women’s golf dresses, along with historical information about DeWitt Weaver, including archived ESPN footage. This installation presents viewers with minimalist promotional graphic posters, a scorecard, business cards, keychains, a screen-printed flag, t-shirt, a sweatshirt, and embroidered clothing items such as golf dresses, a tank top, hats, and a golf towel.
Artist Statement
Four is a women’s golf clothing brand honoring my grandfather, DeWitt Weaver II, a professional golfer who passed away four years ago. He dedicated every ball he played to God, inscribing Psalm 37:4 on each one. The brand’s name, Four, and its slogan, “Live Fourward,” are a play on the golf term “fore,” symbolizing anticipation, awareness, and readiness for the future—values that resonate with the journey of preparing for and embracing new opportunities in life. Combining graphic design, embroidery, and printmaking with storytelling, Four represents both my personal and professional aspirations, uniting legacy with innovation in a way that pushes my creative boundaries. As a Graphic Designer, my sketchbooks are always filled with line drawings and random patterns, and I love experimenting with bold colors, expression, and faith. By designing patterns that reflect my faith, family, and identity, I bring my vision to life
